Since our formation in 1986 as the first overseas Branch of the OMRS, we have managed to maintain a small but dedicated membership of collectors and military historians and hold regular monthly meetings, tours and overseas excursions.

Meetings are usually held on the third Wednesday of every month at the Police Officers' Club in Causeway Bay, commencing at 19:30 and finishing at about 21:30 in time for a pint. Members normally assemble in the Club Bar beforehand and all are welcome..

Activities for 2010 included an excursion to the historic Stanley Village and cemetery, which was the scene of fierce fighting in the concluding days of the Defence of Hong Kong. Other excursions were to the coastal gun emplacements at Devil's Peak and to the Hong Kong Police Museum. Visits to the Branch were made by the General Secretary Peter Helmore as well as founding President John Wright who is now Hon. Secretary of the Cotswold Branch.

 

Forthcoming events include talks on early Hong Kong Police officers originating from Ireland and the History of the Royal Hong Kong Regiment (The Volunteers). The next excursion will be to the Shing Mun Redoubt, which formed part of the Gin Drinkers' Line designed to hold the Japanese invasion.
